The Second European Champions for Irish Red Setters on Snipe

International Irish Setter Club

The Irish Red Setter Club ran the second edition of the European Championship for Irish Red Setters in conjunction with the International Irish Red Setter Club. The trials were run on snipe on the heather bogs in East Galway, hosted by the Mountbellew & Moylough Gun Club on the 14th  to 17th of October 2019. Blessed by good weather and a bountiful supply of snipe the Championship was another great success. Just under 50 Irish setters from France, the UK and Ireland competed as well as people from Switzerland and Greece.

The event was sponsored again by Connolly’s Red Mills and Devonish Nutrition permitting the invitation of an international and national panel of judges, social events and bespoke prizes for all the winners. One of the owners of Red Mills, Bill Connolly also competed successfully with his team of Irish setters as evidenced in the list of winners below. The breed’s prowess as a snipe dog was very evident as can be seen by the number of dogs in the awards and the high number of excellent classifications awarded by the judges.

The Judging panel was drawn from senior national and international sources. The Irish judges included Jim Sheridan, the Chairman of the IKC Field Trials Committee, Patrick McCarthy, Michael Heuston, Aidan Dunne, all A Panel Judge together with Jean Pierre Gott , President of Honour of the French Irish Setter Club and Rene Bloch an international field trial judge from Switzerland. The Solo trials were judged by IRSC Club stalwarts Kristin Jameson and John Mullins.

There was a very positive atmosphere at the event and in a very sporting manner. The European Champion on Snipe 2019 is  Phillipe Guittard’s IRSB Jessie de l’Anse de Ty Roux handled by J F Meret and the Vice Champion id Pat Reape’s IRSD Ballinahemmy Mike.

-         27. Juli 2019: CACA Clubshow in Lockenhaus

-         27.july 2019: Evening Gala „90 years young“ on Lockenhaus castle

 

Prior to the World championship 2019 in Serbia we offer  CACIT Field Trials.

-         12.-16. October 2019:  Field Training in Kr. Geresdorf

-         17.-20. October 2019:  Derby, Int. Field Trials-CACIT

A good opportunity to stop on the way to the World championships.

ELECTION OF NEW 2018 RED CLUB COMMITTEE

International Irish Setter Club

As announced, Jean Pierre Gotti has not renewed his candidacy as President of the Red Club.

Jean Pierre, recognized work judge, had his first red in 1986 and raises Irish setters under the affix "du Val de Loue". Under this affix he has produced a great many working champions. He has been a member of the Red Club for 32 years, has served on the committee for 26 years, and served as President for 10 years.

We thank him for all the work done for the breed in France and elsewhere. His immense contribution for both the race and his club was highlighted with great accuracy both by Raymond O'Dwyer at the last Irish Spring by Moncetz Longevas and by Claude Beucherie, his vice-president and close adviser on the occasion of the National Breed show at Glomel.

At the request of the club president and committee members, he remains the international representative for the Red Club.

Ludovic Iuchs, who was secretary of the Red Club, succeeds him to the Presidency. He had his first Irish setter in 2000 and is breeding for 16 years under the affix "des Solos de Rory".

We are delighted to announce the launch of the IIRSC’s website.

 IIRSC has introduced a new website. The Site will focus on the international events promoted by the IIRSC, the European Championship for Irish Setters on wild partridge in France, the Practical Hunting European Championship for Irish Setters in Italy and the European Championship for Irish Setters on Snipe in Ireland, as well as important news about the breed from the affiliated countries.

JESSIE DE L'ANSE DE TY ROUX - MAGNIFICENT ACHIEVEMENT IN FRANCE

International Irish Setter Club

Jessie won the Open de France 2018. ( France Championship for English dogs). This is a huge achievement and the Danish Irish Setter Club congratulates with this great victory

JESSIE is 

- Spring Trial Champion at the age of 2.

- Grande Quête Trialer at the age of 3.

- in 2017 she also got the CACIT  the 2nd day of the Open de France but was beaten in the final barrage ( mactning) by the CACIT winner of the 1st day.

- in 2018  she had been awarded 6 times in Grande Quete (3 times in Spain + 3 times in Serbia)
